Hi all,
One of the latest country in Europe (world) that was not allowed on 7.1-7.2MHz band : France.
While almost all EU was allowed a year ago, we had to wait for our administration/ministry to sign, publish the official law on this extension.
That has been done on the 1st of July, with a mistake in the max allowed output power (120W instead of 500W....)
This is now corrected: French stations are now allowed to run at max allowed power on all 7.0-7.2MHz. At last !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When I look at the "last good ones" page, I realize I'm late in sending my direct QSL requests. But I know where it comes from.
In general, I send direct QSL's after QSO's on at least a couple of bands. But I have some difficulties to get some new ones on other bands now.
Maybe this is due to the fact that the propagation is not that good...
Hope cycle 24 will be more stable..Even the YI9 were not worked on 12m (I just heard them sporadically). Got them from 80 up to 15m, but was looking for them on 12/10m (my last bands....)
Next time maybe,

Hi all,
Is that th real beginning of cycle 24?
In any case, that was a good opening on 15m this afternoon : 2 new states (WV and NJ), and Bermuda were in the log (VP9KD).
Nothing new, but that was nice to hear and make QSO's on 15m !
Hope for some opening to Midwest tomorrow ?

Hi all,
Following my trials to get zone 19 on 40m, here are my thoughts about zone 23 on 80m.
There is 1 operator active there from Mongolia, Chack, JT1CO. I've been hearing him the last couple of days with good signals (S5 to S7), but even if not so many people were calling (and despite of calling sometimes "alone"), I've never been through so far.
I don't know what are his RX conditions, but I do hope to get him one of these days (this is the season for it !!!!!!!)
Wait & See,

Hi all,
I've been chasing my last zone on 40m for quite a long time now, unsuccesfully so far.
I've heard UA0CNX few days ago, almost 1 hour before my sunset. He was a real S9 rpt here, but was only working West-Russian stations.
I've heard UA0ZC on 80m, but he was working on 3.803 where I'm not allowed to go.
I've seen many spots from UA0Z, UA0F, etc on 40m, but never in SSB (Mainly digital/CW modes)
I'm calling every morning from 07:30 to 08:00 on 40m in that direction, which didn't work so far (sunrise there, sunset there, and path in total darkness). I've been hearing a lots of JA on my morning time, but nobody from Zone 19.
This morning, I was calling in that far-East direction, but got answered by VK/ZL stations on long-Path. So the antenna does radiate, I'm here at the good times (I guess), but no UA0 coming in...
I'll insist of course to get one operator from this very last zone for me on 40m. I'll keep calling at appropriate times, but one will say "the last one is the most difficult one"
But iof anybody from Zone 19 could propose me a sked there, I'd be more than happy !

Hi all,
Great great,I could at last get Mr Choi, HL3IUA,on 80m (New one there) at 21:50z.
I first got Kan-san, 7J4AAL, who was "in company" with Choi...I've been looking for Chio for a couple of years, but never was lucky.
Tonight, there was a pile-up on JA8BMK on 3793, but higher in the band, there were Kan and Choi.
That was my chance, so I called.
Kan-san was 5/9, and Choi 5/5, but well readable (low noise for once here).
Kaamsa Niida Choi !!!!!!!!!

Hi all,
I've noticed this with BS7H a few years ago which was listening almost 80KHz. I thought to myself that this could never happen again...until this morning.
TX3A on 20m SSB, listening +5 to +50KHz (at least) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sometimes, we can hear +5 to +15 or even 20KHz..But +50 KHz is a pure non-sense !
Making a QSO in such a wide split is like winning to the national lottery. This is a non-sense for me and I really don't understand why using such a wide bandwidth....
You are lucky, you got it. You are not lucky, you don't make it.
But where's the point in calling 3 hours (which I didn't !), keeping the fingers crossed that the operator listen +52KHz?
The only effective way to QSO with a DX expedition working split is
- to listen to this split
- to listen to the operator
- to understand how he works in his split
- to listen to listen to listen, this is the basis of Ham radio !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
--> How do you sincerely want to listen to a 50KHz split within a few seconds ???????????
That's simply not possible, and this can only lead to ZOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
There was nothing to understand this morning, neither the operator, nor the split.
That was simply SAD.
The only way to make a QSO with TX3A this AM was
- to call 3 hours non-stop, linear amplifier ON and of course saturating to disgust the guys who listen the splits to understand how the operator works in his split.
- turning the VFO while calling to cover a few KHz with 1 call...(I heard some people doing this !!!!!!!!! Amazing !!!!!!!!)
- to call, to call, to call without listening, but while praying the "DX" god would help a bit.
This is NOT ham-radio.
Yes we need a bit of luck sometimes. But NO, ham radio is NOT a lottery !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hearing what I heard this morning, I sincerely don't regret not to be in their log!
Why did the operator behave this way is a pure mystery for me
- The guy is well-experienced, and normally knows how to handle even a BIG euopean pile-up within 10-15Khz, but no more.
There are many ways to control/regulate a pile-up without destroying almost the entire band.
- Working by numbers
- Working by countries / areas
- Working by letters
- Working with a lower output power so that only the good ears can effectively listen the operator
- etc etc etc
Last point : Why did the operator shamelessly lie?
- At 10:55, the operator said QRX.
The definition of QRX is stand-by for a few minutes, while coming back after on the SAME frequency.
--> But in fact he simply QSY'd to 160m CW where he was spotted 2 min after by NA stations..This is also not a mark of respect for the people calling/waiting for him. And I'm sure that was not a simple "Q code" mistake. He did it voluntarily ! No comment !!!!!!!!

Hi all,
On behalf of a friend of mine (Arnaud, F4DPT), I'm doing here something I'm not used too.
But it's worth it, see yourself :
Here it comes, an almost BRAND NEW 4elements Ultrabeam covering 20-6m (6m kit included !!!!!!).
The complete kit, bought in July 2009 (4 months old only !!!!!), contains
- Complete antenna incl 6m kit
- plug-in cable
- 45 meters of control cable
- Icom Interface
Price is 2475 Euros, compared to 2975 new. 20% discount for a almost brand new antenna, this is a HUGE opportunity.
Shipping, even internationally is POSSIBLE, but at buyer expense (Package weights about 45 Kg). Since shipping cost depends on location, you can contact him on his email address (F4DPT, QRZ.com) if really interested.
For any questions, please also contact me or him.
I wish I could set-up such a nice antenna (no doubt you can sell your linear after this !), but my neighbour may not agree seeing the antenne over their roof/garden when extended, HI HI HI.
As a proof, I heard my friend working XR0Y on 17m barefoot, at the first call (I was there for ore than a hour !!!!!!!!!!)

Want to be a big gun....Think about it (Santa Claus is arriving soon !!!!!!!!!!)

Thanks for QSL'ing !
