Hi all,
Not much to say this morning...No activity yesterday evening nor this morning on 40m SSB. They are now spotted indeed on 7085, but more than 2 hours after our sunrise..By far too late.
I'm starting to think this one is not for me for any reasons...
1- This is not the best period of the year for low band QSO with this part of the world. In the best case of sunrise/sunset combination, that is to say in the evening, I'll still have all Europe to go over, which is almost an impossible mission (even if I remember doing this with VK9DWX also on 40m, just at my sunset)
2- On morning time, only possible opening on 40m LP occurs 1 hour before their sunset and 30min after my local sunrise, and they seem to be focused on higher bands with NA at their local time (15/17m spots this morning). Even if they are effectively on 40m at that time, this is not sure I could listen to them (but who knows?)
3- Although I would really like to get them on 40m, this is not a "high priority": Not a new DXCC, not a new IOTA, already got > 175 DXCC on 40m, etc etc. But of course, I would neverthelesss like to get them on 40m because
- I would then just miss Mellish reef on that band to close all VK9's...
- My 200DXCC on 40m is still a real target so I have to enjoy all opportunity for new ones on this band.
4- As of this morning, only 9 QSO's have been made from France. This is a additon of 2 more QSO's made by F4FJH and F4DPT yesterday evening on 20m (Both of them have BIG antennas !!!!!!!! Congrats Eric and Arnaud !!!!!). But hey, this is a general "low score" from France. I'm also wondering who from Zone 14 made this QSO on 160m.......!!!!!!!!!
Anyway, this WE is taking place the famous RSGB IOTA contest, I hope to put some new IOTA in the log, we'll see..And this VK9NI ends on the 29th of July, so there are still a few days left !
