Hi all,
I was giving some CQ DX calls yesterday evening at around 22:30 to 23:00z on 40m when I heard a booming signal from Alberta, Canada.
That was Larry, VE5UA, who was arriving up to 5/9 here, really impressive (his 3 elements mono-bander full size definitely helped, HI !)
What was even more impressive was that
- It was still full daylight in his QTH (16:00 his local time)
- we could talk and have a "normal" QSO during at least 10 minutes (he reminded me that we already QSO'd together many years ago on 20m, HI !). Not much QSB, excellent report on both sides, and a very pleasant DX QSO, which sounds quite rare nowadays, above all on 40m
- Propagation was so open that I could hear JA and North America at the same time on 40m..
Many thanks Larry for this very enjoyable QSO, and I do hope to see you again down the log very soon again !!!
