Hi all,
I spent some time yesterday evening on 80m trying to what kind of propagation waw there....
I was hearing VQ9RD quite weak at around 21:00z, calling for NA stations.
I couldn't believe I was receiving Diego Garcia so nicely on that band...
After a few calls for NA stations, he gave a general CQ call, and I decided to jump into the zoo (his signal improved from 5/5 up to 5/7-5/8....)
What a surprise, he answered me back after a few calls from my side, within the usual EU zoo....(when listening the DX RX frequency, everybody was 5/9+20 here !!!!!!).
I must have been lucky, he must have excellent ears on his side
Morality : It is not because the pile-up is 5/9+++ on your side that you can not jump into the "fight" and try your chance. That worked for me !!!!!!!!!
I didn't hear him that long, but it was long enough to get him on 80m too (after my 40m QSO with him !!!!!!). I now need VQ9 on..10m only !!!: (Thanks to VQ9LA for the 20/17/15/12m QSO + QSL !)
VQ9RD is a new DXCC and a new zone for me on 80m, yes !
Later on, I also worked 9H1SP Paul and 7X2EB on 80m too. Not as far far as VQ9, but also missing in my log...
3 new ones on 80m in one evening, that's good, HI !!!!
