Yep, this happened to me this morning.
I was beaming short path to Japan at around 07:30 UTC when I heard a small voice with a japanese accent on 14.270 below some North EU QRM.
I listened carefully, and noticed a pile-up 5 KHz down.
i decided to turn the beam in LP for Pacific area, and the small signal (5/2 max) moved into a nice 5/7 here. This was YJ0AVE from Vanuatu, a potential all time new one for me !!!!!!
I decided to take my chance and give a few calls, although South EU and East Europe stations were creating a huge pile-up here...
What a surprise, after 3 or 4 cals, I could hear "Fox charly, Fox charly only please". i replied immediately, repeating 3 times my call (as usually, EU was still calling, even if there was no "Fox Charly" intheir call :-( ).
Kunio-san replied with my exact call-sign, giving me a "pile-up" report of 5/9....I was in his log, and this is an "ALL TIME NEW ONE" !!!!!!!!!!
the day began nicely here !!!!!
